Art in the Market Walking Tour

Aside from its invaluable farmer’s markets, festivals and community events, Detroit’s Eastern Market is a mecca for public art. With murals created by artists from around the globe, Eastern Market has made a name for itself in the street art world. Join us for a tour of the market’s most gorgeous projects and learn more about Eastern Market’s latest efforts to retain their artist community.

In recent years, the Murals in the Market program has brought a colorful mix of new murals to compliment existing murals – the tour group will enjoy the newest parts of the oldest and largest public market in the country! (As if we needed to give you another reason to love it…)

CHECK-IN: The tour begins promptly at 1:00pm, please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the tour and check in with your guide.

PARKING: At the starting point, we recommend Eastern Market street parking.

TICKETING: No need to print your ticket. Arrive a few minutes early to check-in and give the guide your name. That’s it!

Before or after the tour, visit Power of the Press Fest taking place on Sunday at Shed 5 from 10-4. It will include 60+ artists selling their work, special areas where artists will be demonstrating crafts such as papermaking, wood engraving, paper marbling. The Detroit Institute of Arts will have a drop in book arts workshop and more. The whole Sunday event is free and family friendly.
